Turtle Bay - Manchester, Northern Quarter

Turtle Bay, the modern Caribbean restaurant concept by former Las Iguanas director Ajith Jayawickrema, has opened a number of new sites in recent months and Extechnology are delighted to be assisting with their current expansion.

Extechnology are acting in a consultancy capacity to ensure that any new site avoids issues relating to odour by specifying and maintaining the appropriate equipment to achieve the site specific objective.

The Hollybush

The Problem

Extechnology were asked to assist with an odour problem plaguing one of their recent openings in Manchester’s Northern Quarter.

The point of extract at the site was at low level to the rear of the building and odour being extracted was causing a concern for Turtle Bay and their neighbors. Once Extechnology engineers had the opportunity to examine the issue it became clear that there had been insufficient consideration given to the level of odour control required and the equipment which had been installed was of poor quality.

The Solution

Extechnology put together an improved specification for the client using, where possible, existing equipment so as to reduce the cost burden to the client.

By simply changing the orientation of some of the equipment as well as adding some additional filtration the degree of odour control achieved improved dramatically.
